In 2018 I retired after a lifetime in the NHS, focusing on public health and inequality. On retiring I made a personal quest to become self-sufficient and self-financing in fruit and vegetables, and so London Organic Growers was born.
Since day one we have been not-for-profit; selling produce to family and friends and investing the money back into the garden and allotment. In that last 2 years we have expanded our efforts to include donating our produce to the E4 FoodBank as the Cost of Living Crisis affects more families and demand on the food bank has increased. We believe that everyone should have access to organic vegetables no matter their circumstances.
In 2022, first growing year we grew and donated the equivalent of £2,500 fruit and vegetables. In 2023, our second growing year, we grew and donated £7,500 worth of fruit and vegetables. In 2024, are working towards a target of £10,000.
We are always in need to financial and non-financial support, aswell as volunteers. If you want to find out more about supporting our cause, please see below.
